Impact Story: Route 66 Neon Sign Grant Program

In an effort to shine a new light on Route 66, the City of Tulsa launched the neon sign grant program. Utilizing allocated tax revenue from the Vision 2025 plan, the program provides business owners with grant funding to restore, refurbish or install a neon sign along the highway to support the original unique visual identity of Route 66, enhance the attractiveness of the corridor and encourage cultural tourism. Since its launch in 2019, the program has helped nearly 60 property and business owners restore or install iconic neon signs along Route 66.
