Meet Vickie Jordan: Building a Stronger Tulsa Through Housing

With a background in law and a passion for affordable housing, Vickie has spent her career driving change in Tulsa’s housing landscape. Now at PartnerTulsa, she’s working with developers and community partners to drive meaningful change. With exciting projects on the horizon and the upcoming Common Cause Housing Convening bringing key voices together, Tulsa’s housing landscape is set for big things. Read more about Vickie’s story and what’s next for our community.

Can you share a bit about your background and the journey that led you to this role?

I grew up in Tulsa and went to TU for both my undergraduate and law degree.  I worked for Judge Rapp at the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals immediately upon graduation from law school and then later served as an Assistant Dean at the law school.  Nonprofit work, specifically affordable housing development, became my driving professional interest in 2009 when I went to work for Vintage Housing, and later Green Country Habitat for Humanity, both exceptional organizations.   Coming to PartnerTulsa has provided an opportunity not only to continue in affordable housing and finance, but to also work with other developers to help them achieve their goals.

What drew you to PartnerTulsa, and what excites you most about being part of this team?

PartnerTulsa provides the opportunity to widen the breadth of community impact. Whether it’s through community organizing, incentives or housing, they work with a wide variety of people to assist in accomplishing that which moves our community forward.

What exciting developments can we expect in Tulsa’s housing scene in 2025?

My fingers are crossed for some office and hotel conversions, as well as new construction of affordable housing across our community.  I expect to see some of our emerging developers making great strides with their current projects – single family homes, townhomes, duplexes and triplexes – and planning their future projects.  Looking a bit farther out, I think in 2026 and beyond we’ll see larger developments and an expansion of developers, all working together to achieve our housing goals.

You’re currently collaborating to host a Housing Convening/Conference in Tulsa. What should people know about this event, and why is it an important milestone for the community?

Yes, our Common Cause Housing Convening will occur on Thursday, May 29 at OSU Tulsa.  The purpose of this event is to reunite housing partners – developers, funders, nonprofits, community members – to examine our housing conundrum, share progress made and plan our strides for the future.  We’ll discuss goals, project needs, funding sources, and offer time for valuable networking.  Space is limited to 100 people, so once we open registration, people will need to be quick.
